Catherine Ford is a British actress who was born in Bloomsbury. When her father's divorce from her household, the actress was brought up by her mother grandparents, and godparents. As a child Ford was afflicted with anxiety due to an obsessional-compulsive condition. Ford's interest in acting began in her early years. She joined at the National Youth Theatre. The school she was accepted to was Sylvia Young Theatre School. But after just a few weeks, she realized this school wasn't right for her. Ford returned for admission to the Central School of Speech and Drama and on her fourth application she was eventually admitted. Shaun Dingwall played Pete Tyler on Doctor Who. Ford could graduate in 1993. She already had her TV debut in the 1992 episode Surgical Spirit. She adopted the name Catherine Tate. Tate was on television in the Nineties through shows like The Bill and Men Behaving Badly. Tate was a regular performer on stage, and joined the Royal Shakespeare Company's 2000-2001 season. Tate's stand-up humor, which she began adding to her set in 1996, soon gained her attention.
